How Team Health Increased Collections By 27%
When they came to Atlas, Team Health USA was a single-location chiropractic practice in Kentucky running on an on-prem EMR with no claims tracking software. Claims went out and the practice had no reliable way to see what happened next. There was no system for following up on unpaid claims, no visibility into denial patterns, and no data to use when negotiating with insurance companies.
The challenge
- No claims visibility. The practice had no tracking software. Once a claim was submitted through their on-prem EMR, there was no automated way to monitor its status, flag denials, or catch claims that had gone unpaid.
- Outdated technology. The on-prem EMR was limiting the practice’s ability to operate efficiently. It lacked modern integrations, made reporting difficult, and added unnecessary overhead to daily operations.
- No leverage with payers. Without clean data on claim performance, the practice had no foundation for negotiating better rates with insurance companies.
What we did
EMR and clearinghouse migration. We moved Team Health USA off their on-prem system and onto a modern EMR and clearinghouse. This gave the practice a clean, reliable claims pipeline and eliminated the manual workarounds they had been relying on.
Real-time claims tracking through Atlas. We set the practice up on the Atlas portal, giving them a total view of their claims for the first time. Every claim is tracked from submission through payment, with automated alerts for denials and unpaid balances. No more guessing what happened to a claim after it was sent.
Payer negotiations. With clean performance data in hand, we helped Team Health USA negotiate directly with insurance companies for better reimbursement rates. Having real numbers to back up the conversation made a meaningful difference in the rates they were able to secure.
Results
Monthly collections increased 27%. The combination of modern infrastructure, real-time visibility, and stronger payer rates turned a practice that had been operating blind into one with full control over its revenue cycle. Team Health USA used the additional revenue, plus the cost savings from moving off their legacy technology, to open a second location.
